My daughter's hamster, Lulu, had blood on (or near) her genitals this morning...like she was in heat - but I don't think hamsters do that, do they? She seems lively and normal in every other way, and didn't react when I was looking at her...
Anyone have any clues? The hamster is 2 yrs old, and I think hamsters usually live 2-3 years...

Not sure but as she's a mammal it is entirely possible, as with a lot of animals they keep themselves so clean it is rarely noticed but with her being two years old it could be worth getting her checked out by a vet.

Hi i hope your hamster is much better.I have kept hamsters for many years and i have never come across blood on the genitals.Hamsters can get something which is called wet tail and this causes them to bleed from ther bottoms, you would know if an hamster had this as my hamster was very lethargic and just seemed to be under the weather.Hamsters can contract this from the human cold so it is always advised for any one with a cold not to go near the hamster or its food bowl etc,if you have any other hamsters it is also advised to move them from the same room as the poorly hamster.
Recently i was at the vets with one of my hamsters who was three and a half, and the vet said they normally live for about 2 years, but most of mine have lived for about 3 years.I hope your hamster is well.
