All my dogs have loved cheese too. We used to use it to put their tablets in, as it's a good consistency for hiding a little pill for worming etc. I don't think a little once in a while will hurt, but it seems to me they must see it as a delicacy because in the wild, they'd never get cheese! It's a man-made food, so animals can't be really adapted for large quantities of it I reckon.
