There's no time to lose if you want to be in with a chance of running next year's Flora London Marathon, as the ballot is now open and places are being snapped up fast.

As an extra incentive to run, why not choose to support leading veterinary charity PDSA, and help keep tails wagging across the UK! The charity is urging animal lovers to apply for their own place during the next couple of weeks to be in with a chance of taking part in the world famous race.

So far, over 80,000 eager runners have applied to take part in the Flora London Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, 26 April 2009. The ballot will close once it reaches 120,000 applications. To apply online, people should visit www.london-marathon.co.uk.

PDSA Community Fundraising Manager, Brenda Alexander says, "This year, the London Marathon raised over £200,000 for PDSA, so the race is a vital tool to help us raise funds for sick and injured pets. Marathon organisers are expecting the ballot to fill up next week, so if you fancy taking up the challenge for PDSA, make sure you apply for your place today!"

To support PDSA, please contact PDSA's Fundraising Department on fundraising@pdsa.org.uk or call 01952 204791 for more details.

PDSA provides free veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets belonging to people in need. This year, over 1.8 million free treatments will be carried out, at a total cost of over £48 million. PDSA relies entirely on the generosity and goodwill of the public to fund its PetAid services.
