Question:

Can you give me some information on Feline Leukaemia Virus?

Answer:

Feline Leukaemia Virus is a virus that affects the immune system of cats. Infected cats can spread the virus to other cats via their saliva, blood, urine and other body fluids. It is not related to any human condition and can only affect cats. The virus affects the cat's body by gradually causing suppression of the immune system, exposing the body to infections that it would normally be easy to deal with. An affected cat may eventually develop severe forms of anaemia and even cancer. Fortunately there is a vaccination that protects cats against the infection, which I always strongly recommend.
