Question:
Trixie, our Westie, seems perfectly well but is terribly fussy about her food. Some days she has plenty to eat, and others hardly anything. Should I continue to ignore these fluctuations in her appetite, or is there something I could do?
Answer:
It is most likely that Trixie is just being fussy, and as long as there are no changes to her weight then her sporadic eating habits are probably normal for her. You could try changing the type of diet, from canned to dry food for example, and gently warming her meals may help. Any signs of ill-health like vomiting, diarrhoea or weight loss, should be examined by your veterinary surgeon.

Hi although your dog is being fussy with her food, try not to exchange it with human food.Giving her human food will only make matters worse as eventualy she wont eat dog food at all,she will hold out until she gets something tastier. My vet advised me that when they are hungry they will eat.
sometimes i have the same problem with my cairn x,and then some times she dosent seem to stop eating. You could also try addimg a little warm water to her food.If theres nothing wrong with her physically, then i wouldnt worry to much ,our appettites arent always the same each day. GOOD LUCK.
