Question:

I sometimes have to work long hours, and whenever I come back after a long day at work Psyco, my cat, has passed a motion on my bed. Is he doing this to spite me?

Answer:

Psyco is not doing this to spite you; the problem is much simpler. Cats get used to having a clean litter tray to use. If you leave him for longer than usual he will avoid using a litter tray that is unusually dirty. He will seek out another place to use as a toilet, which in your case is the bed. Not so surprising when you consider that both the litter tray contents and the duvet are soft, depressible surfaces. It may be a good idea to provide him with an additional litter tray the next time you may be working late!
