Leading veterinary charity, PDSA invites you to lend a hand at your local PDSA shop as this week is National Volunteers' Week.
Volunteers across the UK are being congratulated for their hard work and dedication to helping pets in need of vets during National Volunteers' Week (1 - 7 June). Leading veterinary charity, PDSA, is joining in the celebrations to show its appreciation for its volunteers – over 4,800 of them - who all help sick and injured pets, saving the charity a massive £8.5 million every year.
There is a volunteer role to suit everyone at PDSA, from those with a passion for fashion that help in one of PDSA's 180 charity shops UK-wide, to those well-organised fundraisers who arrange local events such as dog shows and pub quizzes.
"Volunteering is a great way to spend your spare time," says PDSA Head of Volunteering, Janet Compton. "Not only is it rewarding to know you're helping sick and injured pets, it's a great way to meet people, learn new skills, even help get you on the career path of your dreams, as well as being fun."
National Volunteers' Week recognises and rewards existing volunteers and also encourages more people to try volunteering. To find out how you can support PDSA and help the charity treat more sick and injured pets, please freephone 0800 854 194 today.
Last year PDSA became the first national organisation to achieve the prestigious Investing in Volunteers quality standard. Awarded by Volunteering England, this achievement recognises what PDSA has always known - that volunteers are vital to the charity - and therefore good volunteer management is essential.
PDSA volunteer opportunities are available across the UK and are listed on PDSA's website, www.pdsa.org.uk/volunteers.
